Christmas Tree Air Freshener

Q: Is there a way to get the smell out of a Christmas tree car air freshener? This is an odd question, but i bought an air fresher for my car's rear view mirror today(one of the cheap ones from walmart that resemble a christmas tree) because it looks good, but it doesn't smell very nice. I think it may be a Roses scent, not sure.

A: You could wrap it in cellophane or plastic wrap. Or maybe seal it using hairspray?

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree (2010)!

Hammers and High Heels, what happens when a glam gal trades in her high heels for a hammer and other various tools used to fix up a house when she gets home. Experience the drama of a 1924 home renovation and newlywed life as it unfolds in the Homewood neighborhood here in Minneapolis. Living the dreams (and nightmares) of homeownership, welcome to Hammers and High Heels! I guess we can call this the 'before' picture. I took this after Alex and I wrestled the tree into the stand and spent about 20 minutes getting it to stand up on its own (fake trees really are easier)! But we were in for the real experience!  So, after we were covered in pine needles, sticky tree sap, and smelling like a pine scented air freshener, there it stood ready for decorating! For the ornaments, we stuck with only silver and gold tones in round bulbs and snowflakes. I wanted to keep the red in the ribbon as the only pop of color. Then we used just the plain old clear tree lights (as usual

Easy Facelifts to Sell Your Home Now

Fortunately for sellers, home prices are rising, inventory is low and the number of contracts to buy existing homes in March rose to the highest level in nearly three years, according to the National Association of Realtors. Although the market is strong, if you overlook important home updates and repairs in rushing to put up that for-sale sign, you could hurt your chances of getting your asking price.

With simple outdoor repairs, interior cosmetic fixes and a good scrubbing, you can make your house shine for prospective buyers. Here's how:

Do a clean sweep. A dirty home is an immediate turnoff. While sellers frequently focus on tidying up high-traffic areas, such as bedrooms and bathrooms, many forget to clean the oven, furnace and baseboards. And don't forget floors and ceilings, which buyers pay close attention to. Sellers often make the mistake of simply painting over a stain in the ceiling when the whole ceiling needs to be repainted, says Chris Dossman, a real estate agent with Century 21 Scheetz in Indianapolis. She also recommends that homeowners with stained carpeting consider whether it's worth replacing.
